Game Art Student at Full Sail University
I am going to try and start posting my progress of my work for now on.
Here is a texture that I hope to be using for a wizard tower I am working on.
Here is my Final for my Merlin Ball Project for Fundamentals of Animation at Full Sail University Online.
I made a bunch of changes from the 3rd pass to the 4th and final pass. I polished the majority of the frames in the entire scene to the best of my current ability. I added in a bunch of very basic low polygon models to help bring the animation to life.
My favorite part of the animation was animating the ladder smashing down against the table and causing the piece of paper on the box to fly up and the hat, book, and wand to bounce up from the force. I felt it really made everything feel alive and real.
This class has made me re-think what I would like my job role to be when developing games after I graduate. I have 4 months straight of classes geared towards the rigging and animating of characters ahead of me and who knows, I could very well end up wanting to be an animator over an environmental/prop artist.
I enjoyed this month in its entirety and I would like to thank my teacher Anthony “AJ” Viviani.
Here is my 3rd pass.
My goal was to fix the timing of the animation. The last pass felt way to rushed. I also fixed the beginning bounce. The ball was bouncing at a weird angle previously. I also added a better more realistic animation for the ladder when it falls on to the table top.
My goal for the next pass is to be completely finished. Meaning that I will be putting in squashing and stretching to the ball as it jumps up and down on top of Merlin’s Box. I will be adding props and animating them based on the impact of the ladder hitting the table as well as the impacting of the ball jumping up and down on the box.
Soooooo…….. I didn’t meet my goals that I had set out for myself and this project but I at least made some progress. I woke up in my computer chair with my neck snapped backwards and my mouth wide open last night and decided it was time to call it a night.
I am still not very pleased with the animation. It really just feels too rushed so I think one of my goals for pass number 3 will be to extend the length of the animation and use more anticipation on different sections. The ball bounces need much more work as well.
Refining the bounce animations and making things not feel as rushed will be my main focus for pass number 3. I have the day off of work tomorrow I plan to get a substantial amount of work done. Come back tomorrow to see the updated clip.
